The Opportunity

We are looking for a very organized and detail-oriented problem solver with a positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills to join our research and development team.  This individual will design and develop and deliver products throughout their deployment cycle for best in class medical and consumer hardware as well as define and execute test cases to ensure that the developed products meet the requirements and are of the quality expected of an industry leader.

 

Responsibilities

  • Product Development –work closely with multi-disciplinary internal and external partners to build perfect products.
  • Deliver and maintain products through-out their development cycle from conception through end-of-life.
  • Develop product requirements based on a thorough review and understanding of the consumer’s needs, competition’s offerings, and our brand strategies
  • Write and present business cases to the executive team.
  • Assist in determining product price point and delivering a product price on target.
  • Evaluate and/or develop innovative product features
  • Gather and publish product requirements, determine feature prioritization, help determine product placement and assist with product marketing plan.
  • Evaluate and/or develop innovative product features
  • Responsible for maintaining factory engagements and relationships.
  • Assist with the validation of business partner’s competencies
  • Responsible for facilitating contract negotiations with key external vendors
  • Assist with the development of product quality control documents and facilitate communications between internal QA teams, and external partners and trusted 3rd party auditors.
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail while working under tight deadlines.
  • Other duties as required by management.
  • Domestic and international travel as required.  Up to 25% travel

 

Experience

  • 3-5 years experience in product development and delivering product to market.
  • Experience in competitive analysis and market research.
  • Experience in product management, factory relations and procurement
  • University Degree with emphasis on business or technology preferred.
  • Proficient in Google Docs and MS Office.
  • Familiarity with MS Visio, MS Project, Adobe CS, or Solidworks would be considered assets.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to clearly explain technical issues and constraints to non-technical people in both verbal and written communication.
  • Experience supervising project coordination and support staff.
  • Experience preparing and presenting business cases.
  • Experience working with off-site project team members is an asset.
  • Written and Oral communication in Mandarin is an asset.

This is a full-time position based out of either Toronto or Kanata, ON.
