Discover Technata Unlocked is a series of VIP events for a curated group of students from Eastern Ontario’s leading post-secondary institutions. Attendees will get the chance to enhance their knowledge of Kanata North companies and engage with executives from around the Tech Hub by guest lectures and networking opportunities. All events are being held at Hub350, the Gateway to Canada’s largest technology park. Refreshments will be available to guests.

Sarah D’Angelo
Director of People & Culture, Warner Bros. Discovery
Biography
Sarah is a strategic Human Resources leader, currently holding the role of Director of People & Culture for Warner Bros. Discovery. She spent 7 years at Giant Tiger, leading HR for the Home Office population. Following her time at GT she joined You.i TV as the Director of People Operations. You.i TV was acquired by WarnerMedia, which later merged with Discovery to become Warner Bros. Discovery. She is also the Board HR Director for an Ottawa-based non-profit called iSisters Technology Mentoring, which provides technology mentoring to women in need.
Andrew Emmons
VP of Software Engineering, Warner Bros. Discovery
Biography
Andrew has 30 years of professional experience, beginning with software development and subsequently, managing global engineering teams. For the last 15 years he has worked with major brands such as HBO, NFL, NBA, Twitch, Disney, Sky and Discovery to bring the streaming video movement to a wide range of consumer devices. He has previously been VP of Client Engineering helping to develop the Max streaming service used by over 90 million customers. Andrew has extensive experience bringing performant user interfaces to cell phones and other consumer electronics. As part of the founding team at You.i TV, an Ottawa-based startup, Andrew led the development of a cross-platform rendering framework used by media companies around the world to power streaming software on as many devices as possible. This included a patented feature which allowed designers and developers to collaborate using popular tools such as Adobe After Effects.
Before joining You.i TV, Andrew was involved in low-level vector graphics standards, acting as co-chair on the W3C (the standards body that created HTML, XML and other internet standards) for the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) standard embedded in modern Browers. At this time, he also led the development of an SVG engine which eventually shipped on over 500 million devices worldwide. Andrew started his career in video game development working for an Ottawa firm on titles such as Jagged Alliance 2 and Wizardry 8.
